Hair Cut, Teeth, and Justin Long

I got my hair cut and colored on Saturday at a great place in Collierville, Tennessee. It took 3 hours, coloring and highlighting and finally cutting, but I was pretty happy with the results. It feels lighter, and easier to maintain. Unfortunately, the current heat spell does not agree with my curls, and so it's a little harder than normal to maintain the just-cut-salon-never-gonna-get-this-way-again look.

My hair has never been my favorite feature, but if I had to pick a least favorite--it would be my teeth. I don't smile because of my problems with my teeth. Dentists freak me out, I hold my breath and don't breathe when I'm sitting in the dentist's chair. It's come time to fix things though...gotta get it done sometime, right? So tomorrow I'm going to try to make an appointment to get the ball rolling, so to speak, sometime in July. Fingers crossed...although I can't say I'd be heartbroken if they couldn't fit me in for, oh, I don't know, six months?

And in conclusion, may I say that I am suddenly finding Justin Long extremely hot? I have seen two or three movies with him in the past week and I absolutely think he is adorable. My new thud.

iTunes wish list

I really, really wish iTunes would let you create a wishlist of items you want to buy.  I find myself finding things left and right and then forgetting them when I actually have the money (or a gift card) to make a purchase.

My current want-to-buy list includes the Across the Universe soundtrack, a couple of songs by Smash Mouth, and a TV episode or two.  I love watching TV episodes on my iPod, it's great.  Right now I have on it:  Arrested Development, Brotherhood, Brothers and Sisters, Doctor Who, Eli Stone, Family Guy, Heroes, Lost, Mental, Numb3rs, and Torchwood.  The hard part about purchasing TV episodes though is that I don't want to buy one unless I absolutely 100% love the episode.  I don't want it just because it happens to be a show I really like.  I have to like the actual episode enough to pay the $2 for it.  Songs are easier.  I hear them all the time so I know exactly what I like and don't like.

But anywho.  I have an appointment to get my hair done today and so I have to jet.

This is kinda cool

Now that I have discovered you can "blog" via email, I may be blogging on a more regular basis. The previous "test" entry was to test the email posting...and obviously it works like a charm.

I was watching The Philanthropist on NBC.com earlier and I just couldn't get into it. It had nothing to do with the lead character, played by James Purefoy, or the subject matter, which was actually pretty interesting. I just couldn't stick with it. Maybe I have too many other shows right now that are taking up all my useless knowledge space in my brain. All I know is, people who have the money to give back to those less fortunate are all heroes in my book. Regardless of how famous they are or how public they make their business.

The past couple of years I have participated in a walk for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in honor of my mother. Each time, I lament that I can't give as much as I want to for the cause. I applaud the businesses that donate their time and services to events such as this one. In college, I walked at a Relay for Life...my first charity event...and I couldn't believe how amazingly simple it was. If only everyone in the country, in the world, could take one day out of their lives and participate in something like that. Anything.

But being charitable is more than that. It's simply the act of being kind. And that is something that everyone can do.

Oooh shiny! Plastic!

I'm putting myself to the test this week. I'm not allowed to use my debit card...my crutch...for anything other than gas purchases. Last month I used it nearly 40 times, and I have absolutely no idea how. I know though that they were my own purchases because I keep up with my account, but it amazed me to see the actual figure.

So far, aside from a $10 gas purchase, I haven't used it once. And, big shocker, my life has been just fine without it. Imagine that!

I just kind of wish I'd done it sooner. I could have saved a lot of unnecessary spending, stress, and headaches. Better late than never though, I suppose.

New Blog - New Start

I've decided to delete my old blog and start from scratch. I'm going to be sharing more of my life and my views and less of the celebrities that I think are hot or the movies I've just seen. Just don't hold it against me when I go on and on about how much I loved Ben Affleck and Jennifer Aniston in He's Just Not That Into You.

Anywho, I've started trying to lose weight and get focused in other areas as well. So far so good. The numbers haven't exactly changed yet but it hasn't been too long. I feel better though and that's what counts...that's the important thing, right?

More blogging to come--it's 6:30 a.m. and I suppose it would be smart to actually get ready for work.
